On May 8, 2017, Samuel Carbajal (pictured third from the left) was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident on 209 St in Venersborg. His vehicle had struck a tree and appeared to be smoking. He was incoherent and unable to get out.

Citizens pictured left to right, Abigayle Ponder, Emma Sorenson, and Rick Brown worked together to remove him from the vehicle to a safe location and provided care. Their willingness to help made a difference in Samuel’s outcome.

Fire District presented a Citizen Heroism Award to each of them in recognition of removing an injured person from the scene of a motor vehicle accident collision before the vehicle ignited in fire.
